The Seanic website does not collect, store, or share any personal data. Your privacy is fully respected.
Overview
Seanic is a beach and tide forecasting service for Ireland, developed by Colin Fitzpatrick. This policy covers the website at seanic.solas.dev. The short version: the website does not collect any personal data.
No Account Required
Seanic does not require you to create an account, sign in, or provide any personal information to use the website. There is no registration process of any kind.
Data We Do Not Collect
Seanic does not collect, transmit, or store any of the following:
- Personal information (name, email address, phone number)
- Location data (see "Geolocation" below for one tightly-scoped exception)
- Device identifiers or fingerprints
- Usage analytics or behavioural data
- Crash reports or diagnostics
- Cookies or tracking tokens
On-Device Storage
Your preferences, favourites, and cached forecast data are stored locally in your browser using localStorage and IndexedDB. This data never leaves your device and is not accessible to the developer or any third party. Clearing your browser's site data removes it entirely.
Geolocation
The "Near me" page asks your browser for your geolocation only after you click into it. The coordinates are used in-memory to find beaches near you and are never transmitted to any server, including Seanic's own. You can deny the permission and use the rest of the website normally.
Network Requests
The website makes network requests to the following services to provide beach and weather information:
- api.solas.dev — to fetch beach, tide, and swell data. No personal or device information is sent with these requests.
- OpenStreetMap tile servers — to render the map on the Map page. Subject to OSM's privacy policy.
- Google Fonts — to load the Inter and Source Serif 4 typefaces. Subject to Google's privacy policy.
- Cloudflare — the website is hosted on Cloudflare Workers; standard request logs (IP address, user agent) may be processed transiently for security and abuse prevention. Subject to Cloudflare's privacy policy.
Third-Party Services
Seanic does not integrate any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs. There are no ad networks, no analytics platforms, and no data brokers involved in the website.
Children's Privacy
Since the Seanic website does not collect any personal data, it is safe for use by people of all ages, including children under 13.
Changes to This Policy
If this privacy policy is updated, the revised version will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. As the website does not collect contact information, users are encouraged to check this page periodically.
